Nirmala Norma Berrios
Nirmala has been practicing yoga since the age of 16. For as long as she could remember, she was always interested in her purpose and the deeper meaning of life. For the past 16 years she has immersed herself in Self Study with her Guru, Shri Manorama Devi Ma, director of Sanskrit Studies and Luminous Soul Method. She teaches a more traditional style of asana which focuses on alignment and breath awareness. Her classes would often include, pranayama breath exercises and end with a 10 minute meditation.
Lauren received her 200 hour yoga teaching certification in 2012 with Frog Lotus Yoga International (FLY) and has since taught as a lead teacher trainer with FLY in Costa Rica, Thailand, and Spain under the guidance of her mentor Jennifer Yarro. Within the lineage of her late teacher Michael Stone, Lauren has practiced and trained in teaching mindfulness meditation. Lauren received her 800 hour massage therapy certification from The East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, OR, and has taken numerous Thai Yoga Massage courses since traveling to Thailand in 2013. All of Lauren’s yoga classes are deeply informed by her education in massage therapy, lending an attuned awareness of anatomy and alignment to each posture. Lauren believes yoga asana practice is a moving metaphor: as we learn to move through postures with attention, light-heartedness, strength and humility, we refine our ability to live our lives mindfully and skillfully.
